Trashing the Dress

I am always looking for beautiful ways to make art and have fun at the same time, so when Alexandra contacted me to do a Trash the Dress session, I was all over it. Not only is she extremely beautiful, but we had the perfect location in mind and everything — weather, light, temperatures, and location — came together in a perfection that is truly rare. There are so many shots I love from this session that it’s almost impossible to choose which I love the best. So here is a small sampling.

The thing about Trash the Dress sessions is that it’s not actually necessary to destroy the dress; most times, and soiling that happens to the dress will come right out with a quick brushing or a cleaning, and in this case that’s exactly what happened. Alexandra’s dress, even though it was in the river, cleaned up just fine afterwards. So if you’re planning on keeping your dress, we can always find a way to do a unique, fun shoot in it and not do irreversible damage to it.

Summer Weddings

Summer is not considered an optimum time to get married in Arizona because it’s a gazillion degrees outside. But summer is also a GREAT time to get married in Arizona, because dates are still open! Allison and Kyle Engagement Session

Allison and Kyle are getting married in October at L’Auberge in Sedona. They are such a lovely couple, fun and sweet together. Good-looking, too, but that’s just a bonus to how much fun we had shooting in a gazillion degree heat in Scottsdale. Tracy Trashes the Dress

April 18, 2009, at The Castle at Ashley Manor, Tracy and Nick tied the knot. A delightful couple, fun and loving, the wedding was a pleasure to photograph. At the end of the evening, Tracy and her girls decided to cool off in the fountain, and that germinated an idea: why not do a trash the dress session? We met up in north Scottsdale and jumped in the pool. The water was cool, Tracy is beautiful, and the dress… well, the dress needed a little repair afterward, but BOY did we have a good time.

A Trash the Dress session is a great after-wedding portrait idea. It’s not necessary to destroy the dress; we can go out and have fun photographing you in your dress in situations and locations you wouldn’t normally go in your dress. Think of it as a modeling session with a twist. We can include a TTD session in your wedding coverage, or we can do a separate session regardless of who your original photographer was.
